| We live in the culture of the super
consumer. A culture where from cradle to grave we are induced to
consume more. In pursuit of this consumption we are destroying the
natural, environmental, economic, and indeed the human resources needed
to sustain us. The adage “Waste Not Want Not” seems to lose its
meaning when there is a disconnect between those who waste and those
who want. Where is this want? It is in our nation, it is in our world,
and it is most likely in our own future if we do not change. We must evolve from a nation of consumers to a nation of stewards. To be sure, stewardship must replace consumption if our nation is to endure. The choice is ours. |
